Our skilled operatives are all qualified and hold certificates of competence for all plant they operate, in addition we have qualified site managers and site supervisors who hold SMSTS and SSSTS qualifications. Our operatives are also trained and competent in Manual handling, Cable avoidance, asbestos awareness, abrasive wheels and first aid.

WL Straughan & Son Ltd also holds many accreditations including some of the below:

Proposed Vehicles

Our proposed plant to be used on site would all be tracked to minimise ground compaction and damage, 14t 360 excavators on 700mm tracks, tracked St dumper on 500mm tracks LGP rear tip dumper and D4 LGP dozer . All plant is ran on biodegradable oils and all refuelling will be carried out in a safe place from a bunded fuel tank which would be removed from site daily. Our excavators are fitted with tilting buckets and headstocks to enable shaping of ponds and wetlands to be achieved with ease without too much physical ground movement with the excavator.

Proposed Timescale

If successful we could look to mobilise on site within one month subject to risk assessments and method statements being approved.

Reporting and Liaison

We propose to hold a pre-start meeting with the client and regular progress reports and telephone updates at roughly weekly intervals (including at least 2 meetings on site during the works). Any issues that arise will be discussed at the earliest opportunity by telephone with the Project Manager.

Insurance

We can confirm that WL Straughan and Son have £10 Million of public and employer’s liability insurance in place.

Risk Assessments

We will produce project specific assessments before the works commence. It is noted that WL Straughan and Son have several NEBOSH qualified staff and are fully experienced in the use and application of the COM Regulations.
